A love so deep it crossed the boundary between man and animal… when Riste passed away, his beloved giraffe couldn’t bear to live without him. 💔🦒

For over a decade, Riste Trajkovski, a 44-year-old zookeeper at the Skopje Zoo in North Macedonia, devoted his life to caring for animals especially giraffes. Among them was one named Floppy, his gentle giant and closest companion. Colleagues said he spent more time with Floppy than with people, always patient, always kind. Visitors often saw them together, a man and his giraffe, connected through trust and quiet affection. But on November 26, 2023, tragedy struck. Riste passed away unexpectedly in the early morning hours. Just a few hours later, Floppy also collapsed and died, despite desperate efforts to save her. Those who knew them believe the giraffe simply couldn’t go on without the person who had loved her most.

The story soon spread beyond Skopje, touching hearts across the world. Photos of Riste standing beside Floppy, hand resting gently on her neck, became a powerful symbol of unconditional love and loyalty. For many, it was more than just a zoo story it was a reminder of the deep emotional bonds animals share with humans who truly care for them. Even in death, their connection lives on, a testament to the quiet heroes who dedicate their lives to creatures that can’t speak but love just as deeply. 🤍

Riste’s friends and colleagues say his spirit still lingers in the zoo in the soft rustle of leaves, in the watchful eyes of the animals he cared for, and in every act of kindness shown toward them. His bond with Floppy stands as a gentle reminder that love knows no species… it simply exists, pure and eternal. 🌼
